Tri-County Regional Centre for Education

 

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Disorders or equivalent Master Degree.
  • Eligible for certification by the Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Eligible for certification by Teacher Certification - Nova Scotia Department of Education.
  • Training in Assistive Technology.
  • Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism.
  • Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

 

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• Professional development in Speech Language Pathology.

• Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in a school setting.

• Experience administering and interpreting standardized assessments.

• Experience in facilitation speech pathology related professional development sessions.

• Experience providing direct support to non-verbal students.

• Experience providing support to school staff in the form of contributions to program plans and classroom implementation of strategies.

 

We are part of the collaborative professional team with Student Services consisting of Speech Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, SchoolsPlus Staff, Student Services Consultants/Autism Support Teachers and Severe Learning Disabilities Teachers and Resources Teachers. Responsibilities include collaborative consultation with school based teams, informal and formal assessment, development of program plans to increase student success for those students with communication needs and provide treatment. Furthermore, the Speech-Language Pathologists work closely with teachers, Teacher Assistants, Administrative Staff, other professionals and parents.
