The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education encompasses the three counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving 5757 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

ASSIGNMENT:
SchoolsPlus will be serving: TCRCE Schools - location to be determined.
This position does not follow the school year calendar.
SchoolsPlus provides preventative, proactive programming as well as interventions for students and families. The vision for SchoolsPlus is for schools to become centres of service delivery enabling enhanced collaboration by bringing professionals and programs together to help children, youth and families. SchoolsPlus promotes an integrated service delivery model through co-location and/or partnership of services within a school such as: Community Services, Justice, Mental Health, Addiction Services and other community organizations.
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Student Services Coordinator the successful candidate will be required to maintain a monthly caseload, workload and other pertinent statistics for the purpose of both internal office and departmental evaluation and planning. The successful candidate will be required to manage difficult and complex caseloads involving addictions, mental health, child welfare and justice issues; provide programming and support to youth at risk and their families, develop and implement comprehensive service plans for youth with complex needs and then assesses their progress. S/he will interview and seek input from school staff, service providers, students and families to determine ongoing needs of students and families and plans accordingly based on their social work knowledge, skills and values. Monitors, assesses and evaluates progress by maintaining ongoing contact with students and families who are on the SchoolsPlus caseload. They will coordinate and link students and families to support and services as needed based on their social work knowledge. Assist clients with problem solving social, emotional, academic, behavioural and legal problems. The incumbent will liaise with school board personnel and outside agencies to increase access to services for identified students and their families. Also, coordinate programs and activities that support the SchoolsPlus model to achieve student success and develop and maintain a positive public image and effective community relations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master of Social Work plus 2 years related experience and/or Bachelor of Social Work with 4 years of related experience.
- Experience in integrated service delivery and direct service delivery to children, youth and families with complex needs.
- Current registration with the appropriate regulatory body, or eligible to become registered.
- Familiarity and knowledge of the School Board, Community Services, Justice, Health and Wellness and community resources.
- Capability to develop budgets and supervise funding utilization to ensure efficient and effective allocation of resources.
- Ability to keep accurate records, maintain confidentiality and create case plans.
- Experience working independently as well an ability to work collaboratively with various service providers.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and working with Advisory Committees.
- Ability to engage and work with diverse communities and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and organize a demanding caseload with minimum supervision.
- Willing to work flexible hours and over the summer.
- Valid driver’s license.
