The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education encompasses the three counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving 5757 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

CASUAL MORNING, AFERNOON AND NOON HOUR SUPERVISOR

 

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTING

 

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education currently has the following positions available:

 

Casual Morning, Afternoon & Noon Hour Supervisors:

Locations:       Digby County Schools

                       Shelburne County Schools

                       Yarmouth County Schools

                       

JOB SCOPE:

The successful applicant will be reporting to the School Principal and will join the school’s support staff team by providing morning, afternoon and lunch time supervision of students, both in the lunch room and outside on school grounds. The successful candidate must have patience, ability to work with children of various ages, conflict resolution skills, be able to maintain authority and serve as a leader in the school community.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Supervises designated areas during lunch hour, according to established procedures;
  • Works independently and without close supervision;
  • Performs duties of a confidential nature;
  • Keeps a record of incidents as required;
  • Ensures students do not leave school property without permission;
  • Reports injuries and behavioral problems to the Principal or designate;
  • Performs other duties necessarily incidental to those assigned above.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent completion certificate
  • Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds
  • Educational Support diploma or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution would be an asset
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with school staff & students
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Related experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism
  • Completion of WHMIS and First Aid course, or willingness to obtain upon hire

 

 

 

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education requires that all new employees provide satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Vulnerable Sector / Criminal Records Checks (instructions will be provided to you upon hire).
