The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Position: Coordinator of the Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP) & Community Learning
Reports to: Director of Programs and Student Services
Location: Harbour House (Central Office), Yarmouth NS
The Coordinator of NSISP is responsible for the Management and Supervision of the Nova Scotia International Student Program and other Community Adult Programs for the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education.
Qualifications
- Degree in Education, Business, International Development, Child and Youth studies or equivalent education and experience;
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong analytical skills which include the ability to prepare and lead presentations, facilitate meetings, analyze documents, prepare reports;
- Ability to organize and manage multiple competing priorities and responsibilities;
- Must have and maintain a valid NS Driver’s License;
- Must have and maintain a valid Canadian Passport.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years management experience with demonstrated experience in effectively managing staff in areas including training and developing, motivation, performance management, and change management;
- Experience in management of international programs and/or child care programs would be an asset;
- Experience with developing, interpreting, and applying policies as they relate to international programs and after-school programs would be an asset;
- Use of judgment and discretion to act appropriately when precedents do not exist;
- Experience in the use of technology to manage, develop, promote and operate programs (Ie. Microsoft Office Suite);
- Demonstrated experience in using data to plan, direct, and assess community activities and engagement.

Accountabilities
Nova Scotia International Student Program
- Manage the operation and development of the Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP):
- Work with international partners to build and maintain strong relationships in support of the NSISP;
- Accept custodial responsibility for the approximate 250 international students who attend TCREC schools on a yearly basis;
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, development, and supervision of staff (permanent, and temporary contract for long and short term programs);
- Monitoring reports on student performance throughout the school year;
- Oversee program operations including: student application, selection, and orientation, incoming individuals and groups, and reporting of recruitment work done abroad;
- Oversee and schedule NSISP airport arrivals/departures. Schedule and participate in on-site arrivals/departures assistance at Halifax airport;
- Oversee student issues, ranging from health to disciplinary. Attend student meetings, communicate with agencies, take disciplinary action up to and including student dismissal from the program;
- Develop and oversee promotional campaigns to increase the awareness of the NSISP and to increase the number of quality homestay families in the region;
- Financial management of the NSISP program:
- Monitor and reconcile financial remittances;
- Calculate and monitor Homestay Coordinator’s compensation, ensuring accuracy based on student data;
- Calculate and reconcile homestay reimbursement and school compensation;
- Active participation as a member of the Nova Scotia International Student Program (NSISP) Operations Committee. Strategically discussing the overall direction of the program:
- Participation in the NSISP recruiting schedule. Prepared to travel to other countries and present on behalf of the NSISP to recruit and maintain agents and partners who send students to Nova Scotia;
- Foster an environment of open communication, teamwork and inclusivity;
- General Management of Program:
- Addresses and assists in resolving staff concerns;
- Monitors staff supervision of NSISP students at designated locations;
- Address Host Family and parents of NSISP Students of student concerns if needed;
- Liaison to the Regional Office regarding finance and personnel matters;
- Prepare and monitor the annual NSISP budgets, and reviews and approves all purchase requests;
- Manage the development of community learning projects and programs;
- Develop Community programs and facilitate consultation in support of the programs;
- Develop, customize, and monitor improvements for programs, guidelines and procedures;
- Partner with TCRCE Programs and Student Services to promote Community Programs;
- Partner with TCRCE schools and communities to build strong support for International Program;
- Set goals for Homestay availability and recruitment;
- Manage and coordinate planning and goal setting, Community Program Review, and information gathering to support program operations;
- Liaise with Recreation Departments throughout the Tri-Counties and partner on program delivery as required;
- Complete project work as assigned or required;
- All other duties assigned by your supervisor related to this position.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a Public School Administrators Association of Nova Scotia (PSAANS) position / Non Union Position. The salary for this role is Band 12 as outlined within the terms and conditions of employment in accordance with the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework.
