Rate of Pay: As per CUPE Collective Agreement ($25.05)

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.
Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor Fleet, the Dispatcher/Inventory Clerk will perform dispatch duties, maintain the preventative maintenance database, and order all inventory.
Responsibilities and Abilities:
- Provide radio dispatch duties including responding to emergency calls from drivers requesting replacement vehicles due to mechanical breakdown, and dispatching replacement vehicles in coordination with the Transportation Supervisor Fleet, or Assistant Transportation Supervisor Fleet.
- Maintain ongoing radio communication with bus drivers, mobile mechanics and Transportation Supervisory staff in support of operations.
- Relay information to appropriate persons such as AVRCE Transportation Supervisors, Managerial staff, Communications Officer and schools in the event of bus service cancellations, delays, or schedule changes due to road and weather conditions, mechanical failure, early dismissal or late starts.
- Establish and maintain an inventory control system in accordance with established standards, the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education (AVRCE) Policies and Procedures.
- Order all parts and materials as required.
- Maintain stock at sufficient levels.
- Generate reports and print as required.
- Picking, filling and shipping orders.
- Assist in the preparation of tender for “tendered purchases” and ensure that other required parts and materials are purchased at the most reasonable prices.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications and experience:
- High School Diploma.
- Post secondary diploma in Business Technology or equivalent.
- Training and/or experience in dispatching, 2-way radio communications, material management processes, purchasing, shipping and receiving and inventory control.
- Detailed knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems for truck and transportation vehicles would be an asset.
