Location:  Central Office, 60 Lorne Street, Truro, NS


The Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education, with approximately 22,000 students and 3,000 employees, is seeking a Human Resources Assistant.  Reporting to the Coordinator of Human Resources Services and working as an effective member of the Human Resources team, the HR Assistant will assist the Coordinator, and on occasion other Department Managers, in a variety of human resources areas by taking responsibility and accountability in areas which include, but not limited to:  


  • Managing the Coordinator’s office
  • Appropriately responding to clients
  • Assistance in collective bargaining and confidential employee investigations / reviews
  • Human Resources document and data management
  • Database development and maintenance
  • HR Event planning
  • Preparations and research for human resources initiatives
  • Additional special projects and/or assignments  


The HR Assistant has a proven track record of discretion, respecting confidentiality and superior skills in organization and effective communication.  He or she is service oriented and works very well with others. 



  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a demanding administrative support position or recent Human Resources Management degree or diploma.
  • Demonstrated superior organization, data and document management skills
  • Strong and effective communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (word, excel) and excellent typing skills.
  • Exceptional client relations.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
