The Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education is located in beautiful Central & Northern Nova Scotia, Canada.  The Regional Centre serves approximately 20,000 students from Pre-Primary to grade Twelve, in 65 schools. CCRCE is inviting applications for the position of Coordinator of Pupil Transportation. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, the Coordinator of Pupil Transportation is responsible for overseeing all aspect of student transportation services within CCRCE.  This includes providing leadership and direction in devising, maintaining, and implementing a high-quality and safe service through the competent management of all aspects of Student Transportation Services within the regional center for education. This includes planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing all functions pertaining to the safe, efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the transportation department, which involves personnel, equipment, and facilities. The Coordinator of Pupil Transportation will have overall responsibility for:

  • Oversight and management of the delivery of Transportation Services
  • Oversight of Drivers, Mechanics and Supervisory Staff
  • Fleet and Preventative Maintenance Programs
  • Management and oversight of the Transportation Budget

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree preferably in Driver/mechanical training/planning, Business or Management, Urban Planning, Industrial Engineering, Transportation/Logistics or related field; or equivalent through training and experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory experience
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License
  • First Aid Training (will be provided if not current)
  • Familiarity with industry standard practices relating to conveyance and fleet maintenance
  • Experience in operations, logistics, or transportation management
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team and managing in a unionized environment  

 

Required Competencies

  • Strong communication and analytical skills  
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills  
  • Proficiency in computer software, including fleet and inventory management, spreadsheets, word processing, and routing software (Bus Planner preferred) 
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal transportation regulations  
  • Knowledge or understanding of the transportation industry related to the safe operation of school buses
  • Strength in problem solving or troubleshooting
  • Training in accident investigation
  • Familiarity with maintenance software or applications

SALARY:                                                           Non Union Pay Band 12 ($4,040.96 - $5,051.20 Bi-weekly)
