Reporting to the Director of Financial Services, the Payroll Manager is a member of the Regional Centre’s Financial Services Management Team and is responsible for directing the operations and activities of the Regional Centre’s Payroll Division serving over 3,000 employees.  The Manager oversees all payroll processes and ensures full compliance with all applicable legislation.

 

Qualifications:

  • National Payroll Institution designation (CPM), Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of payroll experience, with a large organization
  • Minimum of three (3) years managing staff, preferably in a payroll or accounting setting

 

Competencies:

  • Experience using a complex human resource and payroll management information system (SAP would be an asset)
  • Experience with understanding and interpreting Federal and Provincial legislation and regulations
  • Experience working with Canada Revenue Agency, Workers Compensation, Employment Standards
  • Well-developed decision-making and creative problem solving abilities
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory and team building skills
  • Advanced computer skills including (but not limited to) Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
