The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is implementing a Pre-Primary Program (an inclusive, high quality, play based early learning experience for pre-school age children) in stages across Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Lead Early Childhood Educator on site, an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is a member of the pre-primary program team that collaboratively ensures a supportive and secure environment for young children attending the program. ECEs work in accordance with the Nova Scotia Early Learning Curriculum Framework to create and maintain an engaging learning environment, one in which pre-primary children are encouraged to explore and create new knowledge through their experiences and social interactions with others. ECEs use evidence based best practices and professional judgment to ensure the environment is focused on the holistic development and overall well-being of the children.
