The Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education is located in beautiful Central & Northern Nova Scotia, Canada.  The Centre serves approximately 19,000 children from Pre-Primary to Grade Twelve with over 70 facilities. Applications are currently being accepted for a Pictou County (Celtic Family) Custodial Supervisor based in TrentonThe Custodial Supervisor reports directly to the Area Facility Manager.  As a member of the Property Services Management team, the Custodial Supervisor provides leadership with the delivery of effective custodial services according to the mandate, objectives and policies of the Chignecto Central Regional Centre for Education.    

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

        Minimums

  • Nova Scotia High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in a Property Services role (facility maintenance, repairs, renovations, and/or custodial management).  
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills in a team environment, organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills; specifically, supervisory skills.
  • Provision of satisfactory criminal records and child abuse registry checks.
  • Demonstrable competency in software such as Microsoft Office and Google GSuite.
  • Possess a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License (or ability to get same).

 

 

        Assets

  • Exposure to computer maintenance systems such as SAP. 
  • Training and/or certification in standard health and safety programs (ex. First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection etc.).

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct liaison with other departments and schools regarding Property Services.
  • Contribute to the physical operation of area schools and buildings to provide an appropriate environment to support educational services. 
  • Administers and supports the Property Services custodial programs, and services within the CCRCE Property Services Division according to consistent standards.  
  • Primary responsibility for being a productive, meaningful communication link for site based custodial employees.
  • Performance of all duties in a safe and healthy manner including identifying and assessing potential hazards and associated risks. 
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, standards and guidelines required with operations of school-based systems and facilities.
  • Occasional support on routine CCRCE maintenance projects.
  • Put in practice and maintain Department operational practices and training programs for staff including maintaining proper documentation, training and staff evaluations.
  • Perform duties in a fiscally responsible manner within the financial framework and budgets as provided by Operational Services.
