The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

Qualifications  

(a) A Valid Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate 

(b) Masters Degree in Leadership/Educational Administration; 

(c) A Masters level degree with equivalent leadership education and/or experience may be considered 

(d) Undergraduate Degree with a Major in Mathematics

(e) Degree or Diploma in Technology Integration or related field (or equivalent graduate course work/experience) is considered an asset

(e) Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience in Mathematics;

           (f) Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a school based or system administrator in a leadership position requiring the supervision of staff or such length and combination of relevant administrative experience that is considered equivalent;

Expected Competencies:

The Coordinator shall have the following competencies:

  • ​Ability to deliver leadership and support to schools

  • ​Effective team collaborator with project management experience  

  • ​Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills 

  • ​Knowledge of provincial mathematics curriculum (P-12) and math strategy 

  • ​Expert level knowledge and experience using PowerSchool, including scheduling, gradebook configuration, and provincial reporting is considered an asset 

  • ​Experience with educational technology platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, CoSpaces, Learning A-Z, iPads 

  • ​Knowledge of provincial assessment policy, assessment practices, and data use in education 

  • ​Ability to travel regularly to schools throughout the region to provide in-person support  

  • ​Knowledge of school, centre and provincial assessment data and the ability to assist schools in using data to inform instructional decisions and direction for improvement. 

  • ​Ability to collaborate and share assistive technology initiatives with the Student Services Coordinator.

Overall

The Coordinator of Mathematics and Technology Integration is responsible for supporting mathematics instruction P–12, guiding and supervising effective implementation of PowerSchool/Student Information Systems, and the implementation of innovative technology integration across classrooms. The role is responsible for ensuring data-informed decision-making, and collaborative leadership enhances student learning and teacher capacity. The Coordinator will work as part of a team managing the allocation of staffing resources and liaises with program staff

 

Key Responsibilities

​​The Coordinator shall perform tasks as are assigned by the Director, Programs and Student Services. These tasks may vary, from time to time, with the evolution of the organization and may include but not be limited to the following: 

  • ​Lead the implementation and support of the provincial Mathematics Curriculum (P–12) and Math Strategy (P–12). 

  • ​Provide support and supervises mathematics coaches. 

  • ​Coache and collaborate with teachers and math leads to strengthen instructional planning and assessment. 

  • ​Facilitate workshops and in-service sessions aligned with curriculum and effective pedagogy. 

  • ​Develop regional centre-level strategies for math support, monitoring, and parent engagement. 

  • ​Develop professional learning opportunities for staff. 

  • ​Contribute to system-wide improvement efforts in Mathematics. 

  • ​Oversee the regional use and implementation of PowerSchool and School Information System (SIS) tools. 

  • ​Provide professional development in scheduling, gradebook setup, and data reporting. 

  • ​Troubleshoot system issues and support schools in ensuring data integrity and reporting compliance. 

  • ​Collaborate on the integration of SIS with other systems such as Safe Arrival and School Messenger. 

  • ​Represent CBVRCE on provincial committees, including but not limited to SIS and Information Economy Initiative (IEI). 

  • ​Lead the development and implementation of the regional IEI plan. 

  • ​Provide direct, school-based support for classroom technology integration and digital pedagogy. 

  • ​Administer software platforms and manage licensing (Google Admin Console, iPads, etc.). 

  • ​Coordinate initiatives such as STEAM Week, Hour of Code, Regional and National Science Fair, and innovation-based learning events. 

  • ​Ensure Culturally and Linguistically responsive practices are implemented and monitored 

  • ​Manage the regional technology Lending Library and supports mobile device management strategies. 

  • ​Work closely with the SIS Consultant to align scheduling, gradebook, and assessment systems with instructional practice. 

  • ​Candidates must oversee the vision of technology integration in the CBVRCE and have the motivation, knowledge and ability to use current technology in developing a balanced approach between the teaching, learning and administrative functions with the school system. 

  • ​Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive educational programming and innovation. 

  • ​Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs and Student Services.

Coordinator is rated in payband 12 with a salary range of $105065 - $131331.
