The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

Key Competencies and Qualifications: 

  • Must hold a valid Nova Scotia Teacher's Certificate. 

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering professional development on technology integration in instructional settings. 

  • Master’s degree in Technology Integration or closely related field is required. 

  • Experience in managing software would be an asset. 

  • In-depth understanding of current educational technologies, digital pedagogy, and instructional design. 

  • Experience with scheduling is considered a strong asset. 

  • Effective team collaborator with strong initiative and project leadership skills. 

  • Administrative experience or a second Master’s-level degree would be considered an asset.

Technology Integration (IEI) SIS Support Consultant

The Consultant – Technology Integration (IEI) SIS Support consultant leads the development and implementation of the CBVRCE’s IEI plan, supporting classroom technology integration, digital learning environments, and teacher capacity building. A key focus of this role is to provide in-person, school-based support for teachers and administrators, ensuring that technology is meaningfully integrated into instruction and school improvement efforts. This position is intended to be school-facing and hands-on, with the consultant spending as much time as possible in schools across the region. The consultant also manages software licensing, oversees the regional Google Workspace environment, and coordinates regional initiatives and professional learning aligned with provincial priorities. In addition, this role represents the region on key provincial committees and oversees programs such as the lending library and coding events. The consultant collaborates closely with the SIS Consultant to support a cohesive, system-wide approach to educational technology.  

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the regional IEI plan. 

  • Manage educational software licensing, including purchasing, tracking, and evaluating classroom usage. 

  • Monitor and administer the region’s Google Workspace environment via the Google Admin Console. 

  • Oversee other console-based platforms such as CoSpaces, Book Creator, and Learning A-Z. 

  • Provide professional development for teachers and school teams on effective technology integration and pedagogical use of tools. 

  • Attend and represent the region on provincial committees, including: RBTS, NSVS, DRA, and Google Workspace for Education. 

  • Coordinate system-wide initiatives such as STEAM Week, Hour of Code, and other innovation-based learning opportunities. 

  • Manage and maintain the CBVRCE Lending Library, including distribution of iPads and other learning technology. 

  • Support schools with mobile device management strategies and integration of iPads into instruction. 

  • Work with the SIS Consultant to help with scheduling, gradebook configuration, report card support, etc 

  • Travel regularly to schools across the region for direct support and training. 

  • All other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Programs. 

Key Competencies: 

  • Strong pedagogical background in technology integration and innovation. 

  • Experience in managing digital ecosystems and software platforms. 

  • Knowledge of PowerSchool and its use in supporting instructional practices. 

  • Familiarity with iPad deployment, mobile device management, and school-based tech support. 

  • Effective professional learning facilitator and systems thinker. 

  • Strong organizational and communication skills; able to support schools at all levels. 

Salary is as per NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement
