The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Grade 6/7/8 Mi'kmaq Language, Grade 8 Social Studies
  • Requires a Nova Scotial Teachers Licence.
  • Knowledge of the Mi'kmaq Language is required.
  • Designated for a teacher of Mi'kmaq descent but maybe awarded for a 1-Year to a teacher who is not of Mi'kmaq descent but can speak the language.
  • Experience working with Mi'kmaq students, communities and organizations.
  • Excellent knowledge of Mi'kmaq history, culture and educational issues.
  • Excellent classroom and student mangement skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in utilizing culturally responsive practices.

Salary is as per NSTU Provincial Collective Agreement
