The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

Salary - $80,736 to $100,920 (depending on qualifications and experience) (Band 9 of the Nova Scotia Education Entitites Compensation Framework)
Position Status - Full-time Non-Union position (Please note this position works 12 months annually with allotted vacation time)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS IN EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Masters of Social Work
- Registration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers
- Two (2) years related experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which includes a Bachelor of Social Work together with additional related experience may be considered.
Additional Qualifications:
- Professional social work experience in integrated service delivery and direct service delivery to children, youth and families with complex needs.
- Familiarity and knowledge of the Nova Scotia public school system, Community Services, Justice, Health and Community resources.
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification or willingness to obtain.
- Capability to develop budgets and supervise funding utilization to ensure efficient and effective allocation of resources.
- Ability to keep accurate records, maintain confidentiality and create case plans.
- Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively with various service providers.
- Excellent interpersonal (written, oral and electronic) communication skills.
- Ability to plan and organize a demanding caseload with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and working with Advisory Committees.
- Ability to engage and work with diverse communities and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of youth and their families.
- Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Schools Plus Facilitator will report directly to the Lead Schools Plus Facilitator and/or the Coordinator of Program Partnerships. The Schools Plus Facilitator provides preventative, proactive programming as well as interventions for students and families.
Competencies
- Facilitate and coordinate all phases of service delivery for children, youth and families deemed at risk, including but not limited to, identification, intervention, monitoring and consultative services.
- Develop partnerships and liaise with other agencies to increase local access to services for identified students and their families.
- Oversee the implementation of specific programs within the Schools Plus initiative.
- Complete all aspects of documentation, data collection and reporting associated with the Schools Plus project, as required at the Regional Centre and Provincial levels.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Lead Schools Plus Facilitator and/or the Coordinator of Program Partnerships.
- Develop, coordinate and participate in Regional Schools Plus Advisory Committee meetings.
