CASUAL ACCOUNTING CLERK

 

 

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education calls for applications for casual employment in the following CUPE classification: Casual Accounting Clerks.

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  Applications will be accepted for casual employment at any time; however, it is anticipated that an initial round of casual hiring will be conducted in December 2019.  Those interested in immediate casual employment should submit their applications by December 1, 2019

HOURS OF WORK:  8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday

WORK TERM:   Casual on-call basis

LOCATION:  Central Office and/or Operational Services Office, Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education

RATE OF PAY:  $25.16 per hour

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Accounting degree, accounting diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience specifically related to the job description is required. 
  • Proficiency with SAP and MS Office Suite is required.
  • A minimum of one year accounting experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience with word processing, databases and spreadsheet programs is required.
  • Experience with Google Apps for Education would be considered an asset.
  • Applicants should be innovative and creative with respect to utilizing technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

 

A competency test will be required for all applicants.  

 

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

  •     Maintain filing system, including registers, for payroll department excluding documents and registers pertaining to substitute teachers;
  •     Prepare and run all non-teaching payrolls;
  •     Involved in preparing and checking of teaching payroll;
  •     Posting and checking payroll input to computer system;
  •     Assist in preparation of bi-weekly substitute payrolls;
  •     Checking of time sheets for non-teaching, casual and grounds supervisors and EI enquiries for all;
  •     Prepare separation certificates for all regular and casual non-teaching employees;
  •     Process summer school payrolls;
  •     Input non-teaching sick time and earned time on a bi-weekly basis;
  •     Balancing of non-teaching and confidential sick leave annually in January;
  •     Other related duties as assigned.
