Position:                               Supervisor of Information Technology

Reports to:                           Manager of Information Technology

Employee Group:                Non-Union

Rate of Pay:                         Band 8 

Work Schedule:                   7 hours per day, 12 months of the year

Start Date:                            Permanent, effective immediately

 

 

 

Qualifications:
•    A degree, diploma or certification in technology.
•    Three years of relevant work experience in a network administration position or Windows/Linux server environment
•    Linux certification would be an asset
•    Email system administration an asset
•    Experience with content management systems Wordpress and Google Sites an asset
•    Certifications such as MCP, MCITP, CCA CompTIA Security+ considered an asset

Task Dimensions:
•    Implements and maintains technical and computer-related information systems used by staff in the South Shore Regional Centre for Education office, and bus garages. For example:

  • Developing, testing, installing and providing documentation for the various hardware devices (servers, desktops, laptops, handheld wireless devices of all types and access points etc.) and software applications used in the SSRCE office environment.
  • Installing and maintaining virtual servers as required.
  • Maintaining physical and logical security of hardware and software including proactive intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Maintaining network function and service.
  • Performing secure backup and restore functions for all Regional office data.
  • Maintaining communication and consistency in practice with the Technology Centre.
  • Responding to problem reports, machine crashes, support requests, hardware failures and power outages in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining systems to be able to respond to these problems within timelines as determined in disaster recovery guidelines.
  • Leading and providing expertise in system usage to the office staff.
  • Maintaining password and group files, VPN and network configurations.

  • Performing hardware and software maintenance and upgrading to the office’s laptop and notebook computers and associated hand-held equipment as required and maintains current records associated with equipment of RCE Office employees.
  • Participating in professional development activities to remain current and knowledgeable of new developments.
  • Actively participating in regional PSS/Ops technology team meetings.

 

•    Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

•    Other duties as assigned from time-to-time.
