Qualifications:
• Business diploma or degree
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and experience processing payroll preferred
• Knowledge and experience in recruitment activities
• Experience in an SAP environment preferred
• Proficient in MS Excel and Microsoft Word

Task Dimensions:
Assisting the Human Resources Department with the accurate entry and maintenance of personal information during the life cycle of employee using the HRIS module in SAP. For example:
o Processing individual assignment changes for employees.
o Entering pay and benefit changes, including absences and leaves for all employees.
o Making any necessary corrections in personnel administration areas and benefits following simulations and evaluations.
o Testing relevant configuration changes in all HRIS systems and act as an approver, including changes related to Collective Agreements.
o Receiving and processing Police Records checks and Child Abuse Registry checks and advising the Director of Human Resources of any negative reports. Following up with applicants as directed.
o Process Employee Benefits at enrolment, termination, and/or as changes are required.
o Ensuring that the appropriate documentation is distributed in a timely manner as well as providing basic information in relation to the completion of forms.
o Providing help desk support for users.
o Acting as first point of contact for all HR related questions and direct to appropriate HR employee.
o Maintaining personnel filing systems.
o Assisting with coordinating in-services/seminars for staff as requested by the Director of Human Resources.
Participate in staffing process. For example:
o Assisting in the management of the recruitment website and perform all related duties such as providing hiring timelines, managing the postings and advertisement of vacancies and unfilled positions, approving recommendations, setting up new applicants, and filtering inquiries.
o Preparing and distributing approval letters and contracts in the SSRCE recruiting system.
o Assisting with onboarding process as required.
o Assisting with screening new sub/casual employees and providing support with hiring.
Assisting the Manager of Human Resources with the attendance support program for all employees. For example:
o Receiving, recording and actioning all medical notes from employees.
o Reviewing daily absences and conducting follow ups as required.
o Conducting weekly and monthly analysis on absence trends of employees and providing the Manager of HR with the results.
o Attending support meetings as required.
o Assisting with coordinating supports and accommodations as required for intervention or early and safe return to work for all employees, as required.
o Assisting with increasing employee awareness of regional programs and supports for continuing attendance through facilitation of EFAP program, professional development, information sessions and educational workshops.
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
• Performs other related duties as required.
BACKGROUND/SECURITY CHECKS:
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education requires all newly hired employees to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check. We will accept checks completed within the last 3 months.
Regional Office based positions require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license. Some school based positions also require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license.
