Position Title: Grade 6 Core French- 12 blocks (2 sections), Grade 7 Core French- 10 blocks (2 sections), Grade 8 Core French- 10 blocks (2 sections), Grade 8 FI Social Studies- 10 blocks (2 sections)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification

  • Bachelor of Education - Secondary

  • University education in French

    • OR a minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching a minimum of 50% French Immersion within the last five (5) years with positive performance appraisals and/or references

     

  • Minimum OPI Rating of Superior
  • University education in Social Studies

    • OR a minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching a minimum of 50% Social Studies within the last five (5) years with positive performance appraisals and/or references

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • French Immersion training
  • Experience teaching French Immersion
  • Experience teachign Social Studies
  • Experience teaching grades 6-8
  • Excellent communication (written and oral and electronic), problem solving and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with school and inter-agency teams to support early intervention strategies, coordination of services, problem solving and program planning;
  • Proven ability to work as a contributing member of school program planning and multidisciplinary teams;
  • Ability to apply knowledge, experience and commitment in the areas of culturally responsive pedagogy;
  • Current knowledge of developmental trauma, the impact on learning, communication and social engagement throughout the lifespan;
  • An interest and willingness to engage in continuing education and professional development;
  • Ability to apply training and experience to develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs and teaching strategies based on the individual needs of students;
  • Ability to maintain and promote confidentiality as the norm;
  • Experience in planning and developing training and professional learning opportunities related to students with behaviours of concern;
  • Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.
