SRCE-25-Summer Literacy Camp Teacher (2 positions)
As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) was established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being and overall success. The Strait Regional Centre for Education, with the support of approximately 1,050 employees, works diligently to achieve its mission “to empower our children and youth, within safe, equitable and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing and successful lifelong learners.” In 2024-2025, the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,981 students; and approximately 345 children are attending pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education’s jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness and Richmond, an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometres with a population of 53,742 (Census 2021). The Strait Regional Centre for Education is inviting applications for the position of Summer Literacy Camp Teacher in Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury. Successful candidates must be available to travel to Halifax for professional learning on July 3rd & 4th and to complete an online session prior to July 3rd. (date to be determined)
Work Schedule: July 17, 18 full days, July 21-August 15 1/2 days

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Summer Literacy Camp Teacher works with camp participants in lower elementary grades. They will be responsible for planning literacy focused activies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications:
• Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia;
• Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
• Excellent classroom and student management skills;
• Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
• Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies;
• Experience in lower elementary literacy instruction;
• Knowledge of Grades P-3 Integrated Curriculum.
