The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Position Type: Part-Time
Position: Dispatcher - 50% (schedule to be determined)
Reports to: Coordinator of Transportation
Location: Regional Office- Hebron, NS
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 and a Community College Administration Program or equivalent;
- Three (3) year related experience in a public office, preferably in education;
- Accurate word processing, database and spreadsheet skills;
- Ability to work under pressure with deadlines;
- Willingness to undergo additional training as required;
- Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Accountabilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date transportation files, for example:
- Maintain bus drivers’ and spare drivers’ hours of work, and submit quarterly reports of compliance;
- Maintain up-to-date national safety code files and report non-compliance;
- Attend and provide relative training sessions;
- Provide efficient bus dispatch service;
- Provide driver’s guidance relative to Center Policy and Federal / Provincial regulations;
- Answer incoming calls from drivers on the mobile radio, assess urgency of requests and explain operation and emergency procedures;
- Schedule bus trips, contact spare drivers and calculate/authorize bus forms;
- Communicate school closure announcements, early dismissals and other driver broadcasts;
- Respond to transportation inquiries using the web-based Bus Routing database;
- Responsible for the following administrative duties:
- Assign/track Substitute Drivers assignments;
- Submit “Request for new Bus stop” forms for Coordinator of Transportation;
- Participate in professional development;
- Performs other duties as required and assigned within the scope of the position.
