The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Position:           Supervisor of Custodial Services

Reports to:      Coordinator of Property Services

Location:          Hebron Operations Centre, 28 Rcom Drive, Hebron NS

 

The role of the Supervisor of Custodial Services is to supervise a team of custodians and grounds maintenance staff to ensure schools and buildings within the Tri-County Centre for Education are clean and safe for the health and safety of our students and staff. In some circumstances, hours of work may include evenings.

 

        QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures with at least four (4) years of supervisory experience;
  • Computer knowledge with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Visio, Teams, SAP/S4, Sitedocs;
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License;
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Knowledge of Fire Safety;
  • Experience working in schools would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of Regional Centre policies and procedures would be an asset.

        RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Check all work sites two (2) times per year and report on the condition of the school/building;
  • Advise the Coordinator of Property Services of school custodial issues and concerns;
  • Maintain inventory records of supplies and equipment in schools;
  • Work with custodial staff to ensure the level of work is up to standard;
  • Work with the Coordinator of Property Services in developing programs, budgets and procedures for custodial services;
  • Provide on-site training for custodial staff;
  • Develop daily, weekly, monthly and annual task lists for custodial staff, I consultation with the Coordinator of Property Services;
  • Develop plan and procedures for assigning custodial staff equitably;
  • Implement performance evaluation process for custodial staff in consultation with the Coordinator of Property Services;
  • Supervise staff and deliver performance feedback in a professional manner;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

This is a Non Union position. The salary for this role is Band 5 as outlined within the terms and conditions of employment in accordance with the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework. For additional details, the framework can be found here.
