The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Position: Maintenance Planner (Job # 523, Band 5)
Reports to: Coordinator of Property Services
Location: Hebron Operations Centre, Yarmouth NS
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for overall Plant Management planning within SAP and for directing preventative maintenance work orders for various buildings and structures under the jurisdiction of the Tri County Regional Centre for Education.
Qualifications
- A diploma in Business Administration with a concentration in software and information management or equivalent experience in a related field is required;
- Candidates should have three years of experience in building maintenance, preventative maintenance, or a related field;
- Knowledge of building systems and components is necessary;
- Knowledge of SAP plant maintenance is an asset;

Accountabilities
- Develop, initiate, maintain, and report on preventative maintenance within SAP Plant Maintenance Software
The maintenance schedules and tasks will be based on Provincial Standard Operational Procedures as well as application codes, guidelines, and regulations. Examples include drinking water guidelines, occupational health and safety regulations, and the national fire code.
This work includes developing preventative maintenance plans for each system in each building. This includes, but is not limited to, the following systems:
- Mechanical systems
- Heating systems: boilers, burners, pumps, valves, sensors, oil tanks, etc.
- Ventilation systems: air handling units, exhaust fans, humidifiers, coils, etc.
- Domestic water systems: wells, pumps, treatment systems, and testing
- Sewer systems: sanitary, septic tanks, pumps, and treatment
- Storm systems: manholes, catch basins, and sprinkler systems
- Electrical systems: main power, distribution systems, fire alarm systems, public address systems, telephone and data, and interior and exterior lighting
- Building envelope: roofing, exterior wall systems, doors, and foundations
- Fire safety: egress and exits, fire doors, fire dampers, fire extinguishers, etc.
- Grounds: parking, roadways, playgrounds, sports fields, etc.
- Interior: gym equipment, floors, ceilings, architectural finishes, and door hardware (keying)
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Responsible for overall planning within the SAP Plant Maintenance
- Provide reports for operations managerial staff on outstanding notifications and work orders for both preventative and routine maintenance;
- Maintain and update data in SAP;
- Assist managerial staff in scheduling and assigning PM work orders;
- Coordinate and communicate with principals/schools and Manager of Trades
- Coordinate on work planning and scheduling dates with knowledge of required trades and equipment to complete tasks;
- Keep principals and schools updated on the status of work;
- Train users on SAP Plant Maintenance system and provide status reports
- Train users on the SAP Plant Maintenance system and update them on status reports;
- Provide feedback on the system with recommendations for improvement;
- Other duties as assigned in relation to the purpose of the role.
