The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13 Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

The Information Technology Supervisor is responsible for developing and maintaining robust systems, as well as providing supervisory support for regional initiatives and technical staff. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead projects, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate has strong technical and software development expertise, project management skills, and the ability to effectively lead and support a team.

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent education / work experience);
  • Proven experience in system development and maintenance, with a strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices;
  • Solid programming skills in multiple languages (such as Java, C#, Python, PHP etc.) and experience with databases and SQL;
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools;

Accountabilities

The Information Technology Supervisor shall perform the following tasks under the direction of the Coordinator of Technology Services. These tasks may vary from time to time with the evolution of the organization: 

 

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and partners;
  • Develop and maintain reliable and scalable systems, applications, and software solutions to meet business requirements;
  • Lead regional projects, including coordinating with stakeholders, gathering requirements, creating project plans, and ensuring timely and successful project delivery;
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to the technical staff, ensuring their growth and professional development;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, timelines, and resource requirements;
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security protocols;
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, programming languages, and industry trends to drive innovation and suggest improvements to existing systems and processes;
  • Support the implementation and integration of third-party systems or applications, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance;
  • Analyze complex technical issues and provide efficient and effective solutions;
  • Train and onboard new technical staff, providing them with the necessary tools and resources for success;
  • Monitor and track project progress, ensuring projects are completed within budget, scope, and timeline;
  • Supervise the completion of day-to-day technical issues for schools and offices;
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance-related issues for the technical staff;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Technology Services.

 

The salary for this role is band 8 as outlined within the terms and conditions of employment in accordance with the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework. For additional details, the framework can be found here.
