The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices the culturally responsive pedagogy approach in providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically to the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties, an area of 5,250 square kilometres and a total of 23 schools.

SSRCE is currently recruiting Educators and other interested individuals to support our students who need a tutor. Maybe you or someone you know would be an awesome tutor for our students.
We believe and recognize any students who are unable to attend school for an extended period of time may benefit from tutorial support. Some of our students are absent for longer durations due to serious illness or medical treatment, for a period of convalescence, or for other extra-ordinary circumstances.
We have several specialized areas requiring tutoring support, such as
- Higher grade level Mathematics support (particularly high school Math),
- High school content areas such as Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics), and
- All levels of P-12 English and P-6 Math.
Ideally, we are looking for Educators with a Bachelor of Education; however, it is not always required. Tutors working with students for Grade 10 and Grade 5 Math should have experience and need to be qualified as a licensed teacher in the subject areas (retired or currently working). Educators are not able to tutor their current students.
Rate of pay is - $32 per hour (with Bachelor of Education) or $19 per hour (without Bachelor of Education).
Position status is casual.

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education requires all newly hired employees to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check. We will accept checks completed within the last 3 months.
