Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 and a community college accounting program, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the field of accounting and all aspects of accounting procedures
- Proficient in MS Office software applications.
- Experience using SAP or S/4HANA accounting software would be considered an asset.

Task Dimensions:
- Performs assigned accounts payable functions relative to the operation of the Region under the direction of and directly responsible to the Accounts Payable Supervisor. For example:
- Respond to internal and external inquiries, statement reconciliation and resolving outstanding balances on vendor accounts
- Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process.
- Assist Supervisor with Accounts Payable procedures documentation
- Backfilling for other Accounts Payable staff, as required.
- Completing corrections as required.
- Contact and follow up with vendors, employees, and approving managers regarding issues with documentation.
- Managing the Accounts Payable inbox and mail for SSRCE and TCRCE, including tracking, organizing and distributing all invoices for approval and payment.
- Processing/scanning cheques weekly and inputting the deposit details into excel for the A/R Clerk.
- Manages all reception duties relative to the operation of, but not solely, to the Region Departments switchboard duties, for example:
- Distributing and handling mail for all departments in relevant entities. This includes but is not limited to opening, date stamping, preparing, accepting and distributing all incoming internal/external mail and courier packages.
- Greeting and directing walk-in traffic and contacting the appropriate staff member to collect visitor. Signing in each visitor.
- Maintain and update Reception procedures documentation including an up-to-date contact list as it relates to the switchboard.
- Maintaining/ensuring stock is on hand for postage meter and courier.
- Managing all fax to e-mails, notices and checking calendar of events
- Managing the telephone switchboard. This would include answering and redirecting phone calls for all departments and responding to public inquiries including addressing and redirecting parent complaints.
- Responsible for answering the emergency mobile phone and following emergency procedures
- Photocopying backup for payroll and donations.
- Photocopying ID for new staff and volunteers when they are dropping off their criminal records or child abuse forms for HR and photocopy with note of duplicate of original.
- Prepares inner-office courier for all schools on a weekly basis.

- Complies with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education requires all newly hired employees to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check. We will accept checks completed within the last 3 months.
Regional Office based positions require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license. Some school based positions also require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license.
