Qualifications:
- Completion of a 2 year community college accounting program.
- Knowledge of the accounting system SAP, specifically related to Accounts Payable and Procurement
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of accounting and all aspects of accounting procedures
- Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and Word.

Task Dimensions:
- Performs accounts payable functions relative to the operation of the Regional Centre under the direction of and directly responsible to the Accounts Payable Supervisor. For example:
- Responsible for the collection and distribution of invoices submitted from various sources (email, mail, internal mail, etc)
- Contacting and following up with vendors, employees, and approving managers regarding issues with documentation
- Confirming invoices are matched with a purchase order where required by Regional Centre policy and that any discrepancies are addressed in a timely manner
- Processing incoming invoices/payment requests/credit card transactions accurately and efficiently, in accordance with Regional Centre procedures and guidelines
- Assisting with payment proposal, ensuring accuracy of invoices and expense claims entered
- Responding to internal & external inquiries, statement reconciliation and resolving outstanding balances on vendor accounts
- Performing clerical functions necessary to support accounts payable
- Assisting in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process
- Supporting internal and external audit requests as required
- Providing cross functional support to the finance team as needed
- Assisting the Accounts Payable Supervisor, as required
- Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
BACKGROUND/SECURITY CHECKS:
The South Shore Regional Centre for Education requires all newly hired employees to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check. We will accept checks completed within the last 3 months.
Regional Office based positions require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license. Some school based positions also require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license.
