Summer Camp Lead (Bridgewater Elementary School)
South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) is inviting applications for the casual position of Summer Camp Leader at Bridgewater Elementary School. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Summer Camp Lead will facilitate recreation programs for participants in lower elementary grades. They are the supervisor of the Summer Camp Counselors on site and are expected to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the camp. They will be the first point of contact for concerns and questions with the families. The Summer Camp Lead will be responsible for communicating with parents/guardians prior to the start of the camp on necessary details, as well during the camp. The Summer Camp Lead will design a planned recreation schedule complete with all daily games and activities, with the support of the Summer Camp Counselors. Participating in individual support plans for children with disabilities and/or diverse needs may be required.
Other responsibilities include: Daily duties such as greeting parents and participants, leading recreation activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, organizing equipment and supplies, preparing for activities, distributing and collecting permission slips, organizing the day-to-day structure of the camp, participating in staff meetings & training, planning and purchasing snacks and materials, and supporting the Summer Camp Teacher during literacy instructional time as needed.
Qualifications and Experience

At least one season/summer of experience leading a program in a recreational setting or equivalent experience (such as working with children in a school setting).

Valid Driver’s License.

Demonstrated program leadership skills.

Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.

Knowledge and understanding of healthy child development.

Previous experience working with persons with disabilities is an asset.
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge, Abilities and Training

Current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR is an asset.

Screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Police Records Check.
Security Clearance Requirements
Applicants will be required to complete an employment criminal background screening check.
WORK STATUS
Casual/Seasonal – July 7th, 2025 to August 15th, 2025
WORK LOCATION
Bridgewater Elementary School, Bridgewater, NS
HOURS OF WORK
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekdays.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule as required.
WAGE
Non Union, $21 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay).
