Band 5  ($55,344 to $69,180 annually)

Qualifications:

  • Business diploma or degree
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience processing payroll preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in processing employee benefits programs preferred
  • Experience in an SAP environment preferred
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Microsoft Word

Task Dimensions:

  • Responsible for the accurate entry and maintenance of personal information during the life cycle of employee using the HRIS module in SAP. For example:
  • Process individual assignment changes for employees.
  • Report employee movements.
  • Enter pay and benefit changes, including absences and leaves for all employees.
  • Ensure Payroll Department receives timely appointments reports for pay evaluation and related payroll processing.
  • Make any necessary corrections in personnel administration areas and benefits following simulations and evaluations.
  • Test relevant configuration changes in all HRIS systems, including changes related to Collective Agreements.
  • Receive and process criminal records checks and Child Abuse Registry checks and advising the Director of Human Resources of any negative reports. Following up with applicants as directed.
  • Process Employee Benefits at enrolment, termination, and/or as changes are required.
  • Ensure that the appropriate documentation is distributed in a timely manner as well as providing basic information in relation to the completion of forms.

 

 

 

  • Participating in staffing process.  For example:
  • Assist in the management of the recruitment website and perform all related duties such as provide hiring timelines, manage the postings and advertisement of vacancies and unfilled positions, approve recommendations, and filter inquiries.
  • Prepare and distribute approval letters and contracts in the SSRCE recruiting system.
  • Assist with onboarding process as required.

 

  • Providing HR services to stakeholders under the direction for the Director, for example:
  • Prepare and distribute seniority lists required by collective agreements.
  • Prepare lists for leaves of absence, retirements and other statistical reports as required for staff.
  • Provide help desk support for users of the applicant tracking system (Successfactors) and the leave management system (EasyConnect).
  • Maintain general, personnel and competition filing systems.
  • Manage the substitute/casual placement process.
  • Assist in coordinating in-services/seminars for staff as requested by the Director of Human Resources.

 

  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

 

  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

 

 

 

 

BACKGROUND/SECURITY CHECKS:

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education requires all newly hired employees to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Register Check. We will accept checks completed within the last 3 months. 

 

Regional Office based positions require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license.  Some school based positions also require travel and candidates may be required to provide a valid driver's license.
