Reporting to the Property Services Supervisor. Tradesperson Carpenter will report to Bridgetown Shop and will be responsible for maintenance work within the region and may be required to assist in after-hours emergencies. This is a full-time position with 40 hours of regular work per week. AVRCE supplies service vehicles, tools, and OH&S training as required.
Responsibilities:
- Repairing and replacing building components including structural components, stud walls, partitions, windows, doors & hardware, cabinetry, siding, roofing, flooring, ceiling systems.
- Finish work including drywall taping & mudding, painting.
- Completes work in accordance with applicable codes & standards and industry’s best practices.
- Completing takeoffs to procure materials.
- Planning work orders based on urgency and geographical location.
- Semi-annual building inspections and playground inspections to report issues.
- Ensure service vehicles are well stocked with common materials.
- Assists other trades as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Abilities:
- Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) in carpentry.
- High school diploma.
- Three years’ experience in the trade.
- Demonstrate good written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Broad knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of repairing and replacing building components including structural components, stud walls, partitions, windows, doors & hardware, cabinetry, siding, roofing, flooring, ceiling systems, drywall & painting.
- Experience in related trades is an asset.
