Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Regional Executive Director of Education, this position will be responsible for providing secretarial/clerical support to the Regional Executive Director's office, with an emphasis on providing administrative support to the NSTU PD fund and Programs and Services Department, including organization, financial tracking, and minute taking.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be able to work independently and accurately while on a flexible schedule.
  • Proven secretarial skills with strong communication, collaborative, and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of current office procedures and equipment, bookkeeping and SAP software.
  • Advanced facility with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, Internet, including e-mail.
  • Ability to solve problems independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, take initiative and accept responsibility.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Experience assisting with functions, such as, in-service support/planning.
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Completion of recognized degree or diploma program in office administration is required.



  • Collaborate with staff when requested and provide input to various projects.
  • Receive, sort, prioritize, process, distribute and send incoming/outgoing mail, e-mail and faxes.
  • Record events on Regional Office Online Events calendar.
  • Files management of all NSTU staff applications/claims related to the NSTU Professional Development Fund including regular audits of the files and the database.
  • Collect receipts and forward to committee for verification of claim.
  • Minute taking for various meetings.
  • Detailed record keeping.
  • Maintain policies, administrative procedures in a database and posting on the AVRCE website.
