Introduction The Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education is located in beautiful Central . Reporting to the Facilitator, Schools Plus (Nova Family), the CCRCE is seeking the services of a Community Outreach Worker. The successful candidate will work as a full member of the Nova Family Support Team, providing direct support to children, youth and families of schools in the Nova Family and will assist in navigating children, youth and their families to services and resources in the community. The Community Outreach Worker will work collaboratively with other school and agency staff to ensure that the student and/ or their family have timely access to services and programs required. This position is also responsible for the facilitation of after school programming and group programming throughout the school day which may require flexibility with the successful candidate's work schedule.
 
Minimum Requirements - BSW degree preferred;
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma or certificate such as a community services workers course, human services workers course, social services course, nursing diploma/degree, child development diploma, or bachelor's degree in psychology, education, social work, sociology, etc;
- Minimum of two years experience, or acceptable combination of education, training and/ or experience;
- Proven organizational and evaluation skills;
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Accurate record keeping and reporting;
- High degree of professionalism;
- Ability to work cooperatively within the multidisciplinary, inter-agency framework with school and community partners

- A broad knowledge base related to the physical, psycho-social and emotional needs of a family unit;
- Ability to establish and maintain caring, supportive and trusting relationships;
- In depth knowledge of services available in the community;
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other persons and services as part of a Comprehensive Plan of Services for a family;
- Knowledge of normal/abnormal child development;
- Knowledge of financial management;
- Excellent team-building skills.
