As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) was established on April 1, 2018, to deliver the public school program to 6,089 students attending 20 schools in the Strait Region.  The SRCE’s number one goal is to improve student achievement while also focusing on promoting positive, safe and inclusive environments, excellence in teaching and leadership, and the stewardship of resources.  One of the many strengths in the SRCE is the highly qualified and dedicated staff, numbering approximately 983, who work hard each and every day to support student learning and success. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, the Strait Regional Centre for Education’s jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish and Guysborough on mainland Nova Scotia, and Inverness and Richmond on Cape Breton Island, an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometers and a population of 53,125 (Census 2016).
